BAHUROOPI 2012: Theater Festival in Mysore

"Bahuroopi" hosted by Rangayana will be inaugurated on 14th of January 2012. The festival continues till January 22nd at the Rangayana premises in the heritage city Mysore. 


On the inaugural day S.A. Ramdas, District in-charge Minister will preside. Dr. D. Javaregowda will release Jnanadeepa & Bahuroopi Ranga Sanchike will be released by Deputy Commissioner P.S. Vastrad.

 

The festival focuses on the life of the Jnanapith Awardees, their life style, work & contribution to the field of Art literature. The Bahuroopi festival includes seminars, essay writing for college students, street plays etc.

 

More than 20 groups will be presenting various activities like group events about the Jnanapith awardees life style from Kuvempu to Dr. Chandrashekar Kambar. 

 

Seminars will be held in various colleges about the work & thoughts of the Jnanapith Awardees in the city every day including the cultural shows. Quiz programme, essay writing are organized for the college students about the Jnanapith Awardees.

 

The Film festival includes the movies based on the awardees will be played & folk dance would be performed everyday in the festival. The street plays by 50 groups from Mysore, Bangalore, Hassan, Mandya and Kodagu districts in various areas of the city will be promoting the Bahuroopi Theater Festival.

 

Karnataka has 8 Jnanapith Award winners & a book will also be released at the festival which gives more information about the Jnanapith winners.
Exhibition will be organised covering books, handicrafts & photographs of plays staged in the State on works of Jnanpith awardees.
