In a 14-year study of over 1,20,000 people with no history of lung disease, heart attack, stroke or cancer, researchers found that those who spent the most time sitting — regardless of exercise — had the highest death rate. ![]()
A study that examined people who sit for long periods of time found that those who took frequent small breaks had smaller waistlines. Make changes to your sit-all-day habits: 1. Get up from your chair at least once per hour, even for a quick stretch or office yoga 2. Walk to co-workers' desks instead of calling or IMing 3. Replace your desk chair with a yoga ball 4. Request a standing desk 5. Consider a treadmill desk for a home office 6. Wear a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps per day, at least
