Major revamp in Mysore Dasara 2010 Iternary

Dasara 2010 Iternary is in for some change.There will be full dress rehearsal of Jumboo Savari and the torchlight parade rehearsals will be held twice. Music festival at the Mysore Palace will be cut by a day and Yuva Dasara lengthened. Venues of cultural programmes will be cut and there will be Mysore thali, quality food at subsidized rates. The Ambari elephant could get some respite too.

 

Dasara will be held from October 8 to 17. District minister Suresh Kumar and Dasara special officer and DC Harsh Gupta are working out details that can change the composition of the big ticket event. They are open to suggestions too and will make modifications before giving final shape to Dasara itinerary.

 

Yuva Dasara that resurrected the 10-day festivities is extending its ambit hosting state-level inter-collegiate cultural competitions and a talent search Mysore Idol.

 

Palace music fest will be winded up on October 15 so that a day's gap is extended to make final preparations for Jumboo Savari and the number of venues showcasing cultural programmes will be cut.

 

Rather than allowing the visitors to choose from many options, this is aimed at attracting them to these programmes.

 

The cultural programmes will not be restricted to evenings alone as closed auditoriums will be utilized during day time.

 

The food mela will be decentralized with the venues having food stalls. The evening programmes will be hosted at the Mysore Palace and Maharajas grounds besides Yuva Dasara at open air theatre at Manasa Gangotri. The adventure sports are making a comeback. The full dress rehearsals of Jumboo Savari on October 16 will help an additional 25,000 visitors to witness the grandeur even if they cannot take part the next day.

 

This Dasara, there will be no bouquets and garlands presented to VIPs. Instead, they will be given flowers and the amount saved will be donated to old age home or orphanage. While scanning Dasara expenses Gupta got to know that substantial money is spent for honouring the VIPs. He discussed the issue with the minister. Both of them have agreed to cut it down.
