Mahouts and family members presented by gifts |

The Mahouts and their family participating in Mysore Dasara 2009 were showered with gifts by District in-charge and the Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Shobha Karandlaje and other officials.The mahouts on their part expressed their happiness over this gesture and said they would ensure that the festivities were conducted in a smooth manner
 They were presented with household articles including mats, blankets, utensils, stoves, sarees, and uniforms to each of the members accompanying the elephants.
The mahouts camp in Mysore for almost 40 days and hence the new gesture of providing them with household articles has been welcomed by the mahouts who no longer feel the discomfort of being away for an extended period of time from their homes in the jungle camps.
